Intentional Living with One Word

one wordEarlier this year, I shared my word of the year for 2015. It is presence. I chose this word to serve as the thread that weaves through my daily choices and activities. If you haven’t set any intentions for this year, it’s not to late to do so. You can choose to live your life with intention ANY TIME. You can start today. The simplest way to do this is to find a word that speaks to who you want to become this year. One word that will keep you on the right path. One word that will infuse your choices big and small. That will flow with you throughout your days and will help you move closer to the life you envision. If you start pondering ideas, the perfect word might just pop up when you’re least expecting it. And when it does, you’ll know it’s the one!You can read more about why I chose “presence” as my word for this year in my earlier post. But today, I’m sharing my words from previous years. I’m sharing why I chose them in hopes that it might help you begin to think about your word.In 2012, I did not officially declare a word of the year, however, my underlying theme for the year was “dream”. It was a year of exploring, creating and ultimately expanding my view of the world. It was filled with meeting new people from all over the world and also getting to better know myself and my dreams. It was the year I stopped living by default and began living with intention.2013 was the first year I officially chose a word of the year. That year, it was “joy”. I spent the year focusing on how to live a life of intention and joy. I worked on creating a business that would allow me to help others find joy in their homes (hence, the birth of Simple Joy Organizing and later, Simple Joy Living, LLC). It was a year of great change, but joy was the underlying sentiment throughout all of it.In 2014, I chose the word “love”. As I continued to build a business and at the same time, simplify my home and my life, doing it all with love was my intention. I let go of A LOT that year and I did it with love. I also gained A LOT and that was only possible by choosing to follow the path towards a life I loved while also helping others create lives they love.Have you chosen a word of the year? I’d love to hear what words you’ve chosen and why-send me a note!To Simplicity & Joy,Lisa
