What Gives You Clarity?
When I sat down at my desk to work this morning, the clouds were gracing us with their presence as they held back the light of the day. The sunshine has since made its appearance and the cardinals in the tree outside my window are conversing. Despite the fact that most of the ground is still covered in white and the temperature is in the 30s, it actually feels a little bit like spring. What does this have to do with simplifying? Living a simple life requires living a life of intention. Unfortunately, simplifying is not just a “do it once and it’s done” project. Every day, I make choices to maintain what I’ve created. To choose what to do next. And to decide what comes into my life and what goes out.To make these continuous decisions, I need clarity. I need to have my ducks in a pretty decent row and I need to feel like my head is above water. This is not the case all of the time, and in those times when it’s not, I choose to escape and find the good, knowing this time will pass.Sunshine is one of the things that gives me clarity. I also find clarity by seeing open space in my home, being in quiet surroundings, being at the ocean and getting enough sleep. I need some combination of these things (and more) to allow me to live intentionally. These things don’t often occur all at once, but when they do I make sure I seize the opportunity to create and to work at maintaining my simple life, which I'm doing today. If you’re having difficulty living a life of intention, take some time to consider what gives you clarity. Maybe it’s music. Or maybe it’s a regular conversation with a positive, encouraging friend. It might even be a cloudy rainy day… Once you find out what contributes to your clarity, begin using these opportunities to do what you want-to live your life of intention. What gives you clarity? To Simplicity & Joy,Lisa
