What Don’t You Want to Simplify?

heide-537113_1280When you’re beginning your simplifying journey, it’s important to not focus solely on what’s wrong and what you want to change. It’s important to also spend some time thinking about what is working in your home and what you love about your space. In The SIMPLE Joy Living Process™, my 6-step process that I use as a framework for my mentoring programs, the first step is Survey. As we work through this step, one of the things we talk about is what is working in the space. Finding the good in the midst of what might only seem frustrating is an important part of the journey, especially at the beginning. It helps set the stage for positive work ahead. There is always something good to be found! So if you’re overwhelmed with the thought of starting to simplify your home and life, begin by searching for what is working. Find that favorite place where you like to relax in your home. Find the items that bring you joy. Find what makes you smile. Think about why you love these areas and these items and note what you discover. Keep these notes on your mind then shift to thinking about what is not working.Focusing on the good will help create the vision of what you want moving forward.  It will also give you some positive things to think about when you get to the more challenging steps later on your journey. To Simplicity & Joy,Lisa
