It's Not Magic

magicJanuary 1st is not a magic date. Yes, it’s the start of a new year, but it’s really just a date, just like the other 364 on the calendar.I’ve mentioned before that I’m not a huge proponent of setting New Year’s resolutions. Instead, I encourage setting intentions any time of the year (and doing it again and again throughout the year!).Although we’re almost two weeks into the new year, I want you to know that it’s okay if you haven’t spent time reflecting on last year, planning this year or setting any intentions. We are bombarded with information pressuring us to get 2015 off to the right start but you shouldn’t feel frustrated if you don’t have your year charted out when the ball drops. Intentions can be set ANYTIME.To be honest, I wasn’t quite ready for the flip of the calendar this year. We traveled over the holidays, visiting friends and family back in Illinois and while it was great to see all of them and spend time with them, I wasn’t able to spend any quiet time wrapping up last year and preparing for this year.I hadn’t really even realized how I had appreciated that time between Christmas and New Year’s to literally wrap up the decorations and start fresh with a clean slate in my house and my mind to welcome in the New Year. But it’s okay. January 1st is not a magic date.I’ve since spent some time reflecting on last year’s happenings and writing down intentions for the coming year. I’ve still got some more to dream up and put on paper then I’ll be good for a few months. And when I feel the itch to reflect, maybe course correct and set even more intentions, I’ll do it. And it won’t matter what the date is on the calendar. So if you’re feeling a little behind, it’s okay!  I bet you’ll come up with even better ideas than you would have on January 1st!I’d love to hear what you are planning for the new year-send me a note! Many blessings to you in the new year!Lisa
