Keep Your Eye on the Horizon
This post was written in August of 2014 sometime during the 10 days we had to pack up, sell & donate as much stuff as we could and then say goodbye to our house of almost 12 years. It wasn’t a pretty time, but it was a necessary step on our journey to a simpler life. I share it with you not to scare you, but to let you know that I’ve been there as have countless others. And to also remind you that what’s waiting on the other side-your simpler life-makes it all worth it!At the height of the simplifying, it's not so simple. It’s physically and emotionally draining. But it's a necessary step for us in the interest of living a simpler way. And right now, at the height of it, I'm reminding myself to stop and look out. Not down at the stuff in front of me, not just ahead at the work still to be done, but out on the horizon. Out where we're headed. And there I see the simpler life we've been creating. I see less stuff to manage. I see the ocean. I see more time to do what we love and seize opportunities. More time to travel. More time to be with friends and family. And as I look out that way, to that vision of simple, I remember to be grateful. Grateful for the series of events that have gotten us to this point. Grateful for the family and friends who've been supportive in more ways than I could have imagined. And grateful for the courage to make unconventional choices.Whatever you've got right in front of you, challenging you at this moment, may I suggest that you stop, look up, and look out on the horizon. Don’t just look down. Look out at where you're headed. Remind yourself of the vision you're working to create. Then take a deep breath, be grateful and continue on. I know you'll get there!Blessings,Lisa
