17 Things to Reflect on as You and Your Family Emerge from Quarantine

emerge quarantine

The past two months have presented the entire world with new challenges.  Nearly every aspect of our lives has been impacted.

Whether you’re a medical professional who has been showing up diligently on the frontlines, an essential worker who has been doing your part to keep food and necessities reaching those who need it, or you dove head first into working from home while also homeschooling your children, we’ve all experienced shifts.  As extra-curricular activities outside the home came to a screeching halt and restaurants moved to pick-up only, stores and services closed, and community events were canceled, we abruptly pushed the “pause” button on our crazy busy lives.

While you might feel like you entered a different kind of chaos, it’s likely not the same non-stop, always-on-the-go life you lived when you had the freedom to go anywhere and the pressure to do all the things…

As the world slowly begins to reopen and we emerge from quarantine, we have a lot to consider.

Before you jump up and hit that “play” button, I encourage you to think about what you REALLY want to allow back into your life.

Here are 17 things to reflect on as you and your family emerge from quarantine.

Thinking about BEFORE quarantine

1. Was our pre-pandemic “normal” life healthy for me and my family?

2. What activities do I miss?

3. What activities do I not miss?

4. What activities do my kids miss?

5. What activities do my kids not miss?

Thinking about DURING quarantine

6. What has been “fabulous” during this time?

7. What simple joys have I experienced?

8. What acts of kindness have I witnessed?

9. How have I been kinder?

10. How have I been healthier?

Thinking about AFTER quarantine

11. What am I 100% certain I am not bringing back into my life after quarantine?

12. What are my kids 100% certain they do not want to bring back into their lives after quarantine?

13. What am I most excited about doing again?

14. What are my kids most excited about doing again?

15. What am I going to intentionally preserve space for in my life going forward?

16. What new habits am I going to keep?

17. How do I want to look back and remember the impact this historic event had on our family?

Even though it seems like so much is out of our control right now, these questions bring up things you can control.

I encourage you to make time to reflect on these questions.

Unexpected events and life transitions give us the opportunity to grow.

Don’t miss this opportunity.

Don’t just head right back to the way things were before if they weren’t working (be honest!).

Joy and happiness are possible now, even though it might not seem like it.  Spending time with these questions creating awareness, reflecting, and setting intentions will be time well spent as you and your family emerge from quarantine.
