Saying YES to RV Adventures

RVing wasn’t initially something I dreamed of doing with my family. But thankfully, I followed my husband’s vision, got onboard, and went along for the ride. Some of our best moments as a family were spent in our RV and I’m so, so grateful I opened up to the experience.
I’m a strong advocate for traveling with your children, in any way you can. Whether it’s walking to the next town over, reading books about faraway lands, watching movies, or flying across the globe, there is something to be learned from every town, every culture, every landmark.
A world of wonder awaits just outside the comfort and radius of your daily living. I wish every curious child and adult could have the opportunity to travel. It breaks down barriers and connects us to people who look, live, and thrive in ways different than us. I’m in the early stages of working on ways to increase travel opportunities for women and girls who want to explore, but that’s for a future post.
Meanwhile, I’m sharing details of my family’s travels, specifically our RV trips, in hopes that they inspire you and your family to venture out and explore.
While I’m a proponent of slow travel, the RV trips we took were not slow. Our trips took us through almost all 50 states and kept us moving along, typically only spending one night at each site. While we generally had an idea of where we wanted to visit, many of the details and stops were chosen as we went. We typically booked 3 or 4 nights of campgrounds at a time, planning as we went and as we got recommendations from fellow travelers.
Our trips weren’t always slow, but they were simple. We cooked our own meals, stopping at grocery stores every few days to replenish our stock and we spent very little money on activities (using our annual pass to visit National Parks as our primary form of entertainment). We stayed at modest campgrounds and enjoyed each site’s activities that were included with our stay (such as karaoke nights, dog mazes, banana bike and canoe rentals, and more).
We have so many memories from each of our trips, too many to recount in a few blog posts. With that in mind, I’m sharing our itineraries from each trip along with the states we visited, the national parks we explored, and some specific highlights from our journeys including our Northern USA RV trip, Cross-Country USA RV trip, and Atlantic Canada RV trip. If you’re curious about saying YES to an RV trip adventure, I’d love to answer your questions and help you make your visions a reality. Send me a note and I’ll be happy to reply.
Cheers to the adventures ahead!
