Details In Your Day
To support my efforts to live out my word of the year “presence”, I’m intentionally choosing to pause and notice details in my days. It’s been fun to create this new habit of pausing and noticing little moments every day.I’m sharing what I find each day on Instagram (#detailsinmyday) and would love to have you follow along. And I’d love to have you join in by sharing the details of what you notice when you pause in the midst of the busyness of your day.Although I’ve only been really doing this practice for a few weeks, I’ve already learned several things.First, I’ve confirmed that taking time to pause and notice little moments in my day was A LOT harder when I had much more stuff. My days are still full of activities and often fly by quickly, but there is still space. Space in my home and space in my mind, both of which allow me to be able to slow down and notice what’s happening around me. When my surroundings were full of excess, I never felt like I could stop. There was always something needing my attention. And now that I’ve simplified, this has changed dramatically!Second, I’ve confirmed that the “things” I’ve decided to keep are ones that I really love and that I enjoy having in my home. They were “keepers” because they bring me joy.And third, with less in my home to distract me, I’m out more. Out doing things and living life. When I’m out, I notice the gifts of nature. The tiniest things can be pretty incredible! My whole life, I’ve lived where winter brings snow, so you’d think that I would have seen it all, yet each time it snows (which it’s done A LOT this past week!), I’m still noticing something new and different. These are just a few of the insights I’ve had so far in noticing the details in my days. I know there will be more and I’ll be sure to share them with you! I’d love to hear about the details you find in your days and how you’ve been able to take time to pause and notice them-then send me a note and share! Many blessings,Lisa
