10 Truths I've Discovered on my Simplicity Journey

10 TruthsI was writing about the details of my journey for an upcoming event and I began thinking about the cycles I’ve gone through on my personal simplicity journey.I've discovered 10 truths on my journey that you might also find on yours:

  1. Creativity happens in the white space in our lives.
  1. Sometimes you have to cross the line into too much before finding “just enough.”
  1. Sometimes you have to cross the line into too little before finding “just enough.”
  1. Just when you feel like you’ve found enough of one thing, you find yourself veering over into too much or too little of something else.
  1. You know you’re in the place of “just enough” of something when you find contentment – no jealousy, no wants, no desire for more or less.
  1. Simplifying is a continuous process. It’s not as simple as evaluating every single thing you own and getting rid what you don’t want then being happy. Instead, it’s an ongoing attempt to carefully navigating that place between too much and too little in all aspects of your home and life.
  1. As you head down the road to simplicity, a little more is revealed with each passing mile. And although you know which road you’re heading down, it won’t always look like you expect it to.
  1. It’s okay not to think about simplicity all of the time. Some days you have to just go with the flow and be where you are.
  1. When you do need to take a break from eating, breathing and sleeping simple, take it. Then get back to it when you’re ready. Not when someone else tells you to. (This is the key to =a guilt-free journey.)
  1. Along the way, share your experience with others. But be sure to tell them that their route will not look exactly like yours. And remember to tell them to enjoy the ride.

What have you discovered on your simplicity journey? To Simplicity & Joy,Lisa
