Live Like the Tide
I am blessed to live close to the ocean. It was a dream of mine for years and by simplifying my life, I made my dream come true. What is it that I love about the ocean? Several things…it’s peaceful, the air is fresh, the sound is relaxing, to name just a few. But there’s one thing I hadn’t really noticed until I lived here. It’s that it looks different every time I’m there. There’s undoubtedly a difference between the look of the beach in the middle of January versus the middle of July, given that it’s the coast of Maine. But there’s also a difference on a cold day in January at 8:00am from that same day at 3:00pm. Whether it’s the varying type and quantity of shells or rocks on the beach, the angle of the rays of sunlight or the amount of seagulls flying overhead, it can feel like I’m in a whole new place despite having just been there hours before. It is in a continuous flow and each moment of beauty is there for the taking, before it moves on.This movement of all of the pieces in a scene reminds me that the symphony of life doesn’t stop. It is in constant motion. The tide never waits. It doesn’t wait for the perfect conditions to move. It doesn’t wait for the seagulls or the surfers to find just the right wave. It doesn’t consider that it must accomplish other tasks first, before doing what it was meant to do. It acts now.The different gifts in each moment are there for the taking. You just have to take time to stop and notice them.Take a lesson from the ocean and remember that the tide doesn’t wait. Neither should you. Live like the tide. Live in the moment now.Are you waiting? Or are you moving in the direction of what you were truly meant to do?Many blessings,Lisa
