convergenceIn my last post, I shared my 2017 Word of the Year - convergence.Simplifying my life has meant letting go, creating processes, practicing new habits and overall changing things up quite a bit.If you’re looking for ways to simplify and converge things in your life, here are some ideas for how to go about it:

  1. If you feel like you need to slow down, decide that you won’t be “busy” anymore. Simply stop using the word and see what changes.
  2. If you want to feel better work-life balance, establish and maintain better boundaries around each.
  3. If you realize you can’t do it all in your work or personal life, decide what needs to go. Focus on going deeper not wider.  Choose what you love most then move forward from there.  Say ‘no’ to the good so you can say ‘yes’ to the great.
  4. If you’ve been feeling like there’s things you “should” be doing with your work or personal life because others have been doing it, be honest with yourself and determine if it’s their agenda or yours. Honor what is your agenda and let go of what isn’t.  At least for now.  You can always make an appointment with yourself in the future to reevaluate.
  5. If you’re tempted by shiny objects in life or in your work, get clear on what’s in your lane then stay in it. (I’m grateful for my dear friend and fellow life coach who always reminds me of this). It helps to remember that if there are other knowledgeable individuals, groups and resources out there doing similar things, graciously refer others to them when it’s not something you’ve chosen to do or offer.  When we each focus on doing what we love most and do best, we all flourish.
  6. If you love learning, explore new conferences and connect with new people who love the same things. Whether it’s a quilting conference or a speaking course, hone your skills, meet new people and see where things lead from there.
  7. If you dislike the noise of the internet (like me-and yes, I realize posting a blog post might seem contradictory to this and I’m thankful you chose to welcome my words into your day!), spend more time gathering with others ‘in real life.’ If you’re best one to one, call a friend and plan a time to meet.  If you thrive in groups, find a retreat and escape for a weekend.  Stepping away from your crazy busy life, whether for 2 hours or 2 weeks, will help you see things in a new light.  I firmly believe that the best way to simplify your life is to step away from it for a bit, that’s why I love leading retreats!
  8. If there’s something you miss doing consistently like, writing, reading or taking a bubble bath, MAKE. THE. SPACE. Time is not just going to stop for you to do these things.  If you truly want to do them, make them a priority and put them in your calendar.

Use these tips to implement convergence into your life and keep moving forward on creating SIMPLE, finding JOY and LIVING a life you love!Cheers to you!Lisa
